A student at the University of Central Missouri enjoys some music and exercise before classes begin. The last of the snow melts away during the warming period in mid-Missouri during the spring semester of 2013.
I don’t mind telling you that Michelle was a bit apprehensive about posing along the railroad tracks in W-Burg. Reports of people being fined in W-Burg for doing this are common. However, I think Michelle has a bit of rebel in her and she agreed to sit for me with the old chair I had brought (as a prop) to the shoot. I really like this image of Michelle as I believe it captures her essence. This is also a “straight image.” Good photographers don’t need no [sic] photoshop! I’m glad she’s a good sport. 😉
Today in Warrensburg the weather finally gave our portrait class a break. It was a mild and sunny day. These images are “straight” and have not been edited or photo-shopped. There was some assistants on hand utilizing a couple reflectors while those who had their cameras enjoyed a wonderful photo shoot. Thanks to our models and Mr. Breshears, our instructor, for selecting the locations near the Freedom Tower on the campus at UCM.
It was an overcast day in da Burg. The perfect time to pull out the Nikon. My model, Michelle, works with me at the radio station on-campus. Michelle was kind enough to give me some of her time so I could get my darn “outdoor” assignment completed for portrait. On this shot, I asked my model to walk back and forth across my frame of view. I decided to focus on the middle ground leaving the primary subject soft. I deliberately choose the urban-monotone environment for effect.
Part of working in radio requires almost everyone to help out on promotions. I snapped a few pics on Valentines evening, February 14, 2013 when singer/songwriter Carrie Rodriguez performed live at Knuckleheads in KCMO. Carrie is well known on the Austin, Texas music circuit and has performed all over the nation. One of the perks of working in the radio industry is the opportunity to attend a variety of free (he he) concerts and meet a lot of wonderful people and performers. Carrie has such a sweet and humorous spirit and plays a really mean fiddle! She also has an amazing voice!
